DOT40 can receive and process the required federal paperwork for a firearm you have purchased through another FFL dealer in the United States. In addition, if you sell or intend to sell a firearm to an out-of-state person legally permitted to own that firearm by federal, state, and local laws, we can ship the firearm to the designated FFL dealer who will complete the transfer to the buyer.
We also do in-state transfers when desired.
Our transfer fees are very competitive and depend on the number of firearms you receive or ship. We will transfer up to 4 firearms on the same ATF 4473 form, which now has a four firearm limit, for a total price of $25. The destination and method of shipping determine outgoing shipping fees.
The process for incoming firearms is simple and quickly completed. Once you have selected and purchased a firearm from an out-of-state FFL dealer, just complete our FFL form and we will contact that dealer and supply the required documents.
The seller will ship your firearm to DOT40. The seller will also supply you with a tracking number, so that you will be aware of when your shipment arrives at DOT40. We do not open your firearm shipment until you are in the shop. It is difficult for us to notify you when it arrives because many vendors do not put the customer’s name on the outside of the package. When you come to our store to pick it up, you must complete the ATF Form 4473. After the approval process – a few minutes – we transfer the firearm to you.
If you have a Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License, you immediately take possession of the firearm. This is just one of the many benefits of having a Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License.
Selling and shipping a firearm to an out-of-state buyer is also quick and easy. You will need to arrange with the buyer to provide DOT40 with a copy of the receiving dealer’s FFL License and contact information. We will work with the out-of-state receiving FFL dealer to make sure you have a smooth transfer. As a FFL dealer, DOT40 can securely ship using the USPS, which is a lower cost alternative to overnight shippers. Of course, overnight shipping is also available, if that is necessary.
Some states and localities have very restrictive firearms laws, which governs the firearms we can legally transfer. The receiving FFL dealer must work with the buyer to ensure that the transfer complies with all applicable laws.
If you intend to sell a firearm to an in state buyer, but do not know the buyer’s ability to own a firearm legally and want to ensure that the firearm is legally transferred, a FFL to FFL transfer is the solution. DOT40 will work with you and the in state receiving FFL dealer to arrange the transfer. The buyer must select a local FFL dealer and have that dealer supply DOT40 with a copy of their FFL license. Once that dealer receives the firearm, the buyer will complete ATF Form 4473 and the approval process.
